ChromeStumble
Stumble Upon Toolbar for Google's Chrome Browser
This program adds basic stumbleupon (SU) functionality into Chrome. It currently supports stumble, thumbs up, thumbs down, updating your profile, and reporting previous stumbles. Other features, such as only stumble a particular topic, have not yet been implemented.
Requirements: You must have SU installed on Firefox and you must have it so SU remembers your password when you load Firefox. This has only been tested on Firefox 3 with SU 3.26. Older versions of either might work, but they might not. This has been tested in winxp sp3. It may work on other os’s, but also might not.
To use:
- Extract all of the files in the zip to a folder. You should have the ChromeStumble.exe and four png files.
- The first time you run the ChromeStumble.exe it will open a "select file" dialog box. You will need to locate your firefox "prefs.js" file. This is the file ChromeStumble loads your stumble profile information. If you don't select the right file, ChromeStumble won’t work.
- Load Chrome and then run ChromeStumble.exe
- Press the buttons as you would expect.
- Chrome must be set as default browser!
Known issues:
- If the “Blocked pop-up” window is open, none of the stumble features will work.
- There is no error capturing. If something goes wrong, the program will keep running, but it will no longer function.
- The “topic” and “update topics” areas of the Stumble Upon page don’t render correctly in chrome (I can’t do anything about this)
- Chrome must be the default browser
- Tabs always open in a new window
New to release 002:
- Updated gui so that it follows the Chrome window and blends better when not maximized.
- Used new method to create the toolbar, which should simplify the process. Cleaned up the code.
New to release 001:
- Everything
Disclaimer This is not an official stumble upon client. Using it may violate the stumbleupon Terms of service. I have used it without any problems, but I cannot promise that you won’t have problems.
Thanks to DerRaphael and his http POST GET function and majkinetor and his TitleButton function; I couldn’t have begun to do this without them.
