You play as a cute little yellow chick. Can you find the fabled Sacred Grove and retrieve the Seed of Life?

Story

You are a young chick warrior from your village. A terrible drought has caused all your village's crops to dry up, and there is a risk of famine! So, your village elder asked you to search for the fabled Sacred Grove in the distant mountains, where the Seed of Life is rumoured to lie.

Commands

  Movement keys are like this (where the . is the key to
  just "rest" for a turn):

    h . l
     / \
    b j n
  
  You can also go up/down stairs using the < and > keys.

  The number keys (1234567890) use items from your backpack.
  
  The i key displays what is in your backpack.
  
  The ; key displays what is on the floor.
  
  The , key or the p key can be used to pick up items from the floor.
  
  The Q key quits the game.
  
  And the ? key will display all this help for you in the game!

Items

Here are some useful items you may encounter.

  (      You may find upgrades for your beak, making you a better
         warrior!
  [      You may find upgrades for your feather coat, making you
         tougher!
  :      You may find tasty foods that restore your feather coat or
         your health
  /      You may find several kinds of sharp twig which you may hurl
         at foes
  =      You may find different kinds of bootees which can be worn
         on your feet
  +      You may find a sacred Phoenix Token which makes you more
         powerful!
  *      You may find several kinds of magical flower which possess
         the power of wind!
  @      And finally, the Seed of Life is somewhere here!  Perhaps it
         has some strange power which may help you.

Creatures

Who knows what creatures lurk in the caverns leading to the Sacred Grove? Be careful!

Install/Run

To install and run on your desktop PC, please obtain a C64 emulator. I recommend VICE, which you may get from http://www.viceteam.org/

Once your emulator is ready, start it up and attach the disk image supplied here, "chickhack.d64". You may select "autostart" if you do not want to start the disk yourself, otherwise type the below to make it start.
