The aim of Cheesecake is to develop a theme system for WordPress that applies a more granular architecture to theme selection.

Instead of organising themes at a whole-theme level Cheesecake aims to organise themes according to a three tier construction model.

• Tier 1: Site Layout
• Tier 2: Component Content and Structure
• Tier 3: Decorative

This concept is modelled on a Cheesecake, hence the name:

• Tier 1: Biscuit (The Base and Source of Stability)
• Tier 2: Cheese (The substance)
• Tier 3: Fruit (The Cherry On Top (excuse the pun))

Paramount is the role of the Cheesecake system as the 'pattissier' making combinations at the request of the blog owner.
