charozt
Summary
8layer's Music On Hold (MOH) Uploader or simply CHAROZT is a GTK+ application for GNOME that convert .MP3 to .WAV (WAV-GSM/42) specifically for Asterisk supported MOH.
Apart from its utility of converting .MP3, the real essence of Charozt is its capability to easily upload these converted music files to the Asterisk Server and use them for Asterisk's Music On Hold feature.
The user only needs to know his/her Asterisk server details to upload not just one but multiple converted music files.

Installation
Ubuntu has approved Charozt in their PPA servers and is now live and available via apt-get or synaptics.
By the help of the Ubuntu server build system, Charozt is now available for different CPU architectures, not only for standard 32-bit (i386) computer but also for 64-bit (amd64, ia64) and mobile devices (lpia).
Charozt is also available on different Ubuntu versions, namely 8.04 (Hardy Heron), 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), and 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) Ubuntu releases. To know more about your Ubuntu release, run "System > Administration > System Monitor", or type "cat /etc/lsb-release" via Terminal console.
Here's the following steps to install Charozt.
- Using any text-editor, add the following lines to the end of /etc/apt/sources.list file.
You would need to change the repository version to hardy, intrepid or jaunty. Example, if you are using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) add the following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list file.
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/joelbryan/ppa/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/joelbryan/ppa/ubuntu hardy main
else, for different Ubuntu version, change "hardy" to "intrepid", or "jaunty" (without quotes).
- Once you add the repository address, add the repository as a trusted source, so it means that you trust the software from the repository, and ensures you that the package is intact and not altered in any way.
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 1456B3E6FD691850683F24BAF8F3DB36A2144EB0
- Update your repository by running,
sudo apt-get update
- Install Charozt, by running
sudo apt-get install charozt
Note: Don't forget to check charozt's very informative description by
running apt-cache show charozt
, or searching charozt package in
synaptics.
