The Framework

Introduction

The framework is the reference platform described in Brian A. Seklecki's Paper and Presentation on the project.

It is composed of a series of Bourne shell scripts that illustrate a method by which standard BSD system builds can be pruned and optimized for use in Embedded/Appliance platforms such as Compact Flash booting environements.

The system a Profiled BSD Distribution customized to your needs through the scripts in resulting in a commercial network OS-like "firmware" image for your platform.

This adds managability, scalability, simplicity to the process of using BSD as an embedded platform on frequently low-power diskless systems.

Details

Like most documentation, much explanation still lies in the Paper on the project, however some attempts have been made to illustrate.
