What is Caboto?
Basically, its an RDF-based web annotations system.
Three JISC-funded projects have a requirement to allow people to annotate events and other things. The projects are:
- Collaborative Research on the Web (CREW) - University of Bristol and University of Manchester
- Semantic Tools for Screen Arts Research (STARS) - University of Bristol
- Integration Project (CIP) - University of Bristol
The Caboto project was setup to create a collaborative effort to fulfill the requirements of CREW, STARS and CIP.

14 November 2008 - Version 0.4 released
Added the ability to return all public or private annotations for a person.
14 October 2008 - Version 0.3 released
A maintenance released - updated the project to align with the 1.0 release of JAX-RS and Jersey.
08 September 2008 - Version 0.2 released
This version still only supports simple annotations but it is possible to create private annotations. Spring Security is used for Authentication and Authorization.
25 June 2008 - Version 0.1 released
This is a version that supports simple annotions - a comment with a title. It only supports public annotations. See the instructions on obtaining the source code and running a test application.
