HowToLocalize

Localize Tucan to your language.

Follow this steps:

  1. If there isn't an Issue about your language, create it.
  2. Get a copy of the localization template: https://forja.rediris.es/svn/cusl3-tucan/trunk/i18n/tucan.pot
  3. Rename it to the two letter abreviation of your country with extension .po. Examples: en.po, it.po, fr.po, de.po ...
  4. Edit the file .po with an editor that support UTF-8 file format.
  5. Fill the msgstr strings with the translation of msdid strings.
  6. Attach the .po file to the Issue.

Please follow the rules and create a new issue for your translation.

I'd also like to contribute by translating it to Brazilian Portuguese, but I'm quite confused as to the procedure. Is it possible to send a step-by-step to my Gmail (waldir.leoncio)? Thanks a bunch!

BTW, you've got any plans on registering your project on Launchpad? I'd rather do the translations from there.

Congrats on the very useful app!

Turkish localization is here, http://pastebin.com/f46b7a9fc

view as UTF-8 rename: tr.po

Comment by project member a.dash.slack@gmail.com, Nov 13, 2009

Various things...

First: The Turkish translation already exists in development version ( issue 44 ). Please before open a new issue search if already exist any issue related to your issue.

Second: pastebin.com doesn't have support for UTF-8, if someone copy&paste from pastebin.com he loses the format.

Third: this is not the way to do the things, please read the top of this page.

bold*PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES AND CREATE A NEW ISSUE (if it is needed...) FOR YOUR TRANSLATION.

Comment by gokay...@gmail.com, Nov 17, 2009

Sorry, I did not know the existence of a Turkish translation.

pastebin.com supports UTF-8, all you need to do is to change the encoding settings of your browser to UTF-8. Or, you can download the file, you will see it is in UTF-8 format.

Try deleting "tucan" of the file name - only localization.po Ex: si.po

"4 Rename it to the two letter abreviation of your country with extension .po. Examples: en.po, it.po, fr.po, de.po ..."

Hi, I've finished Traditional Chinese(Taiwan)translation. The file (tw.po) is at http://www.mediafire.com/?mjymgm4xr0o

Comment by project member a.dash.slack@gmail.com, May 26, 2010

PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES (at the top of this page) AND CREATE A NEW ISSUE (if it is needed...) FOR YOUR TRANSLATION.

It is so important don't lose the UTF-8 format.

The Croatian translation was sended through a web of paste like pastebin.com and that web and other similar webs can lose the UTF-8 format, please send a .po file in UTF-8 format (read the rules at top of this page).

The traditional Chinese translation was sended in a .po file that doesn't have the UTF-8 format and thus it is useless, please send a .po file in UTF-8 format (read the rules at top of this page).

Regards.

Could you integrate Tucan's translations with Transifex or Launchpad? Not only it would help translators, Tucan would gain more languages that way. Thanks!

Hello, My name is Abdalrahim Fakhouri, a member of Linux Arabs Community (LinuxAC.org) who loves to help translating FOSS and to report bugs! :-D I have been translating the software lately, and I will submit an Arabic .po file very soon.

I tried to contact you at the official website using the messages textbox, but no one answered :(

Anyway, here are the messages I sent you (mainly: feature request) ....

MSG I

Can you add "megashares.com" support ?

There is a trick to skip deposit.com, letitbit.com & some other sites' waiting time, by clicking the hidden link that only appears when time ends. Is it used in this software? (I haven't got the chance to check!) Thank you.

Your sincerely, A. Fakhouri <abdilra7eem@yahoo.com>

P.S.: It's not available in Arabic. I will translate it as soon as I get the chance to!

MSG II

Hey, it's me again!

Support for these sites will also be useful :)

1. fileserve.com 2. sharingmatrix.com 3. filesonic.com

A. Fakhouri

MSG III

I think fileserve.com also needs to be added too so that this software becomes perfect!

Tucan is the best software I know for it's purpose, and ultimate perfection is not too far! :)

It's the third time today! :-\

Hi again, I forgot something! :-) the software doesn't support proxies that need login, or at least I don't know how to use that feature! :( Is it available? And how can I use it ?!

Please reply to my messages at my E-mail as soon as possible, so that I can know when you receive them. I'm waiting for your reply!

Your sincerely, A. Fakhouri
