Introduction

The goal of this project is to develop a simulated offset printing press that can be controlled and monitored using the printing industry standard Job Definition Format (JDF). The intention is that real Management Information Systems (MIS) and prepress workflow systems should be able to communicate with the simulated printing press as if it were a real printing press. From the MIS/prepress point of view, the simulated printing press should be indistinguishable for a real printing press.

This project was initiated by BrobyGrafiska, Sunne, Sweden and is based on CIP4's Elk Press library.
