The Bergamot Project - Open Source for Symbian
The Bergamot Project produces high quality free and open source software for the Symbian mobile phone platform used by Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung.
As the Symbian environment is presently undergoing significant changes, we are shifting the project's focus from the UIQ user interface towards S60, which will be the basis for the coming Symbian OS.
At the moment the interesting stuff is the Escarpod Podcatcher and Swim, an automatic SyncML trigger.

Donations
We gratefully accept donations to support our cause. Donations will enable use to release signed applications, that can make use of more capabilities in Symbian enabled phones.
Call For Help
We would be very grateful for any help with Symbian projects. The day only has 24 hours, and what with working and sleeping and drinking beer there is not much time to spend. If you want to help out in any form, please send an email to my Gmail account teknolog, or join the Bergamot discussions directly.
Right now the main project is the S60 port of Escarpod.
Future Project Ideas
There are many programs that need to be written for or ported to UIQ. Some ideas that come to mind are:
- A port of S60 Internet Radio (as part of Escarpod?)
- Archive manager for zip, rar etc for UIQ.
- SymTorrent for UIQ
- UIQWebKit - a port of S60 WebKit to UIQ.
- IM client for MSN, ICQ, AIM etc.
- iPhoneish SMS bubble chat
- E-book reader
- A decent media player
- SMS launcher that reacts to incoming messages
