IntroductionUsing the Banshee Streamrecorder is simple and straight-forward. After Installation there is a red record button and a "Streamrecorder" submenu in the tools section. These are the main components in using the extension. First StepsAfter installing the extension use the new "Streamrecorder" submenu to configure the encoder and output directory for recorded streams as well as the File Scanner. Then you are all set to record your first radio stream. MenuThe "Streamrecorder" submenu is found in the "Tools" Menu and offers two menu items:
Activate StreamrecorderBy Activating the Banshee Streamrecorder, the checkmark in front of the menu item will be checked (and the red record button be intented). In this state any internet radio stream/external stream will be recorded to the configured output directory until playing is stopped or the extension is deactivated by clicking the menu item one more time, removing the checkmark in front. Any local files will not be recorded and playing these will not result in any action of the Streamrecoder extension. ConfigureA configuration dialog is opened and allows to set the follwing:
Available EncodersDepending on the GStreamer Plugins installed on your system there are up to three encoders available:
The Record ButtonThe record button in the toolbar is a shortcut to the "Activate Streamrecorder" menu item. It has the same functionality. It also indicates if the Streamrecorder is active or inactive by being indented or not. While a stream is playing and the Streamrecorder not yet active, the easiest way to record that stream is by simply clicking the record button. Another click will stop recording, as will changing playback to locally stored music tracks. |
