Featured IntroductionThis idea arose when playing with APRS and iGates on RF and Linux, I thought why not use my phone's built in GPS and 3G/UMTS/GPRS connection to feed data directly to APRS-IS. I have both a Nokia E71 and an N97 which both run Symbian S60 v3 (the 71) and v5 (the 97) and both have 3G and GPS built in. I found something similar to my idea for the iPhone, Andriod and also Windows Mobile, but nothing for Sybiam, so with my keen interest in this project I set off on learning how to write something for these phones. At first I had a look at Symbian Open Source, but it looked complicated and the learning curved looked quite steep. Then I came across PyS60 which is Python for S60. |
