DESCRIPTION

The Chymistry of Isaac Newton Project is in the process of developing a suite of text and image annotation tools. This suite will include tools to collect, arrange, and annotate digital resources representing manuscripts in digital library projects such as the Chymistry of Isaac Newton Project collection (page images, HTML transcriptions, XML source, and translations).

The tools will allow for annotation of manuscripts by visitors and scholars. Page annotation tools will allow logged in users to isolate sections of images and to add notes. Text annotation tools will allow logged-in users to isolate sections of the HTML transcriptions and to add notes.

In addition, the suite of tools is being developed to facilitate pedagogical use of personalized content, including saving, advanced printing, and advanced sharing capabilities.

BROWSER SUPPORT

The Annotation Tools have been tested in the following browsers:

• Firefox 3.0 and later
• Google Chrome 5.0 and later
• Safari 3.2 and later

The tools are in the alpha phase at this moment and have some issues. Work will be ongoing and the hope is to implement an IE and Opera version soon.
