Before reporting a bug, please ensure:
 - you ran Tools>Advanced>Check DB and it didn't fix the problem
yes
- you are using the latest version of Anki
yes
- you have searched the tracker for similar reports
yes
- you read the release notes after upgrading
I never upgraded
- you are reporting a bug with Anki, and not a bug with a plugin (which
should be reported to the plugin author)
only japanese plugin

Do you use Windows, OSX, or Linux/FreeBSD/etc?
WinXP SP2

What happened? What did you expect to happen?

When I click the record button, it acts like it's recording, then I click
stop and I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "ankiqt\ui\facteditor.pyc", line 912, in onRecSound
File "ankiqt\ui\sound.pyc", line 37, in getAudio
File "anki\sound.pyc", line 256, in postprocess
Exception:
Error processing audio.

If you're on Linux and don't have sox 14.1+, you
need to disable normalization. See the wiki.

Command was:
sox tmp.wav tmp2.wav noisered C:\Documents and Settings\[my
name]\Application Data\.anki\noise.profile 0.1

I'm using a SB Audigy 2. I recorded the noise profile. I tried with
"microphone" as the record choice (same error). Then I tried with "What
you hear" and same error. Then I tried with my bluetooth headset and same
error. All other record features in all other programs are functional

problem solved - issue was caused by non standard characters in deck name
Comment 2 by reso...@ichi2.net, Oct 21, 2009
please try http://repose.ath.cx/d/snapshot with the non-standard characters and
confirm it's working now
