Support

Please do not comment this page for getting support - please write me an email (deraills at googlemail.com), or - preferred - use the Issue Tracker on this site, as I don't get a notice that someone commented the page. If the question/the problem seems to be worth of a FAQ entry, I will do so and add a FAQ section.

Some notes:

  • !!! If you encounter that your texts stay queued, please check alternative sending in the config app on the phone!!!
  • You find the IP address in the notification bar entry if Wifi Service is running
  • The phone numbers of the contacts of to be of type "MOBILE" to be shown in the address book. Contacts without a mobile number will not be shown
  • Click the contact to add its default number OR click the number of a contact if more than one is shown to add the selected one
  • Right click the tray icon to end/stop the bluetooth helper app properly
  • French tutorial: http://www.mb-blog.fr/2010/08/18/envoyer-des-sms-depuis-sont-pc-via-son-smartphone-android/
  • For Wifi: If possible, assign a name in your router setup to the phone, and assign a static ip address for the phone in the dhcp config of your router

By wifi

  • Enable Wifi
  • After Wifi successfully connected, service will start automatically
  • Open a browser on your pc, mac, ...
  • Navigate to http://<ip adress of your android device>:2511/index.html
  • Example: http://192.168.1.5:2511/index.html
  • If your device has a name assigned by your wifi router, try e.g. http://nexus:2511/index.html
  • Starting with Version 1.5: you can find the ip address in the notification bar if easy sms service is running
  • Please note: if app gets installed while Wifi is already connected, you must once disconnect wifi and reconnect so the app will receive a notification and service will start. Only needed once. OR: start service manual in app.

OR

By usb

OR

By Bluetooth

  • Download the helper application (see Downloads)
  • Enable Bluetooth and get your MAC address of the phone (Settings->Phone Info->Status->At the end of the list: Bluetooth Address, something like AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF)
  • PAIR your device with the PC/Mac: computer and phone must be successfully paired! Only a paired computer device may access the EasySMS Bluetooth Service on the phone.
  • Start the helper application on your PC:
    • Needs Java 1.6
    • Open a shell/cmd prompt
    • Change to directory where application unzipped
    • Enter (without ") : "startbt.bat MAC PORT TIMEOUT"
      • MAC = the MAC address of your phone, without the :, e.g. AABBCCDDEEFF
      • PORT = the local port where the browser will connect to, e.g. 2511
      • TIMEOUT = time after which the Bluetooth connection will be stopped, e.g. 60
  • Once the application has started, you can connect from your brower to http://localhost:PORT/index.html
  • Bluetooth connection will be created automatically as needed and killed after the timeout
  • Tested with widcomm bluetooth and Windows winsock stack
  • Uses the BlueCove Java Bluetooth for the helper application
  • See http://code.google.com/p/bluecove/ Project site for further information and help on which devices/os the BlueCove Java Bluetooth can be used
  • You could start the helper application in background by using javaw instead of java and hardcoding mac, port and timeout in the batch file

Running this under Linux shows the message 'MAC address must contain 12 characters', when it does. Any tips?

This is an App for insiders only. Installation extremely complicated. How should I know what this is : http://localhost:PORT/index.html ? That's chinese to a normal user !!!

Comment by bernd.se...@gmail.com, Jan 28, 2012

After following above instructions I get the message 'MAC address must contain 12 characters'. But I input 12 characters ! I gave up ! This App is not ripe for a user market.
