I've run into this bug twice now. The first time when I upgraded fom 4.0 -> 4.1 and now again when upgrading from 4.1 -> 4.2. The problem with removing your Google account and adding it again is that you do lose some settings in the various Google apps. Not exactly a convient solution to this problem.

my bug is back .. after update of the google play store to version 3.10.9 .. thats not funny .. i already made a full reset of my galaxy nexus .. why is this coming back??

Removing and re-adding the account does not work for me. Just got a Nexus 7 today, came with 4.1 and immediately got an OTA update to 4.2, now i cannot install or update any apps. i also tried "Clear Data" from the Google Play apps entry, still no dice.

I'm getting this error on the (Google) Samsung Galaxy Nexus attempting to install a new application. I went to and did the install from the browser and it went through.

Correction to #10: i can install apps which are not already installed on this device (i have 2 other droids), including purchased/licensed apps, but cannot update existing apps (e.g. Google Play Music).

Addendum to #10 and #12: after 5 or 10 minutes installation/update works again.
