O man rooting the G1 is such as hassle. So many different ways to mess up :P

I would not be writing this right now if it was not for your teams dedication and the dedication of all developers (non corporate compliance teams) of allowing people to use the G1 technology properly, such as developing root methods and tethering methods.
This is exactly the reason I got the G1(root, multi touch, wifi, 3g, basically the fact that it is a mini laptop) in the first place, little did i know root would be disaled by the time of purchase(december 27 2008).

To bad my area of coverage sucks, .8Mbps download/.3upload (Speedtest.com) Shitty 3G coverage in my area. Code looks solid except for many optimizations you are probably working on, can't wait for updates!

How do i set up adhoc to communicate to wireless router ? Running ddwrt dirmware on linksys router. Every says this is great program. Be nice if wiki and faqs actually had information on how to get this to work.
Would be better if it could also support location-based services. Look for instance to the Mifi... I'd like Wifi Tether to be as complete in functionality as the Mifi !

The old version didn't work for me, but the new one does perfectly on my Hero! You can now even connect your notebook without internet connection which is useful for remote control apps for presentations etc. Great!
using this on my Droid and it's working great as far as the connection goes. it usually makes my Droid start running incredibly slow and i usually have to reboot. it may be an issue with the SholesMod? ROM i'm running though and not the actual app itself. i usually see the calendar app hanging at the same time, so i'm going to get rid of that and see if that fixes things. definitely worth donating $10 - 20 since i don't have to buy a travel wireless router anymore while i'm on the road and carry an extra piece of hardware and use slower hotel connections.

Incredible App! I love Android but most things take about 20-30 steps. Rooting was an incredible headache (1 click method, etc. did not work) and most apps rarely work in the first try. But, this was PERFECT. I installed and it showed up on my laptop in within a few seconds I was browsing the web.
Even the "Internet Tether" built-in to CyanogenMod? did not work. Like I said this was PERFECT!
I have recently downloaded the latest SDK "Android 2.2 API 8 Revision 1", and tried to use the wifi tether on the emulator(Android virtual device), but it doesn't show any UI application abt the WiFi?? tether.
1.I suppose this version of SDK reflects Android FROYO version, but i still donot see any tether application(FROYO by default provides the tether application)...any advice?
2.Is there way where i can enable WiFi?? on the emulator/AVD?
3.How do i root on this emulator/AVD?
4.What AP drivers are used in the linux kernel/user space to support this feature..?

All versions failed to work on my AT&T Samsung Captivate I897 until I tried Wireless_Tether?_2_0_7.APK. I believe the previous versions would not work because AT&T had removed IPTables from the kernel. How 2_0_7 gets around that I don't know. Works very well. I had been using a wireless tether on a Nokia E71x and I was quite dependent on it since it is the only Internet access I have from my home. The droid version works even better. Good speed on 3G and much better range. Battery doesn't heat up nearly as bad either. Sweet application.

I have a rooted Optimus S running android 2.2.2 still with the stock ROM. I was able to get version 2.0.7 to be recognized by my iPad but it wouldn't connect to the internet. I have just downloaded 3.0 and it starts up with these errors. All done until Starting softap..failed Activating WiFi? Interface...failed the the rest load in with done and ends with Tethering now running. The ipad does not even see my phone now. I made sure the hide SSID is not checked. Would love to hear any thoughts.
Hi, this a great app, Congratilations! I wonder if it's possible just to use it just only with USB, I've tried but I'm not capable to make it run, is perhaps needed a driver for the PC? It's no possible at all? Many thanks

search for the one click root method on the internet adn youtube and just follow the instructions.
I just got my g1 4 the web and all of a sudden there's all these kewl tricks...where can I learn this???
