Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Charge Which firmware is installed? 2.3.6 EP4 Rooted What version of wireless tether are you using? 3.1 beta 7 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Kill app & clear data 2. Reinstall different versions of software 3. restart phone What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Once in a while it works, but more often, it says "started with errors" and it is unable to configure & start softap. Nor is it able to activate wifi interface. I have tried choosing the Fascinate and also Epic 4G Please provide any additional information below. Need a reliable build that has a profile option for the Charge.

I figured I'd just add mine here, instead of starting a new one: Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Droid Charge (SCH-I510) Which firmware is installed? 2.3.6 What version of wireless tether are you using? I have tried v3.1-beta6, v3.1-beta9, and v3.1-beta11 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Install app. 2. Try to run app. 3. Cry What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Every time I have tried, I have expected a working wi-fi signal. I tend to get the signal, and my other devices can connect to it (sometimes), but I can never get to the internet from it. Please provide any additional information below. My log, as it appears on my phone while trying it on beta6: Loading WiFi driver... Failed Activating WiFi interface... done Setting ad-hoc mode... Failed essid, channel, NAT rules, IP forwarding, and Tethering all report as done. Log on beta11, device ID set to auto: wifi driver: fail stopping driver: done loading wifi firmware: done starting driver:done configuring softap: failed starting softap: failed activating wifi interface: failed NAT, IP, Tethering: done Log on beta11, device ID set to Droid Charge, is identical to the log above this. I hope this helps.

@chris/comment #1: In beta11, try unchecking "Wifi Driver Reload" in the settings screen, and have Wifi enabled before you try to initiate tethering.

@j.../comment #2: I'm going to try that at work today. I actually managed to get beta2 to work, though it doesn't always like to start up.

That doesn't really work better. It still fails to stop the tethering interface and fails to stop the driver. I got it connected once, but then I stopped it, killed the app and tried again and now it won't work.

Same problem. Same inputs/outputs. Unchecking wifi driver reload did not help. Now I can no longer can use my regular wifi, either. WTF?!

Echo all of the above. Awful...

I'm having similar problems with beta10 and beta11, though it always works if I pull the battery when I want to stop tethering. If I just try to use the on-screen button to stop tethering, or kill the app in the task manager (try to anyway, since it still runs after being 'killed'), it will give me the "started with errors" warning when I try to use it again. Then the only way to get it working again is to uninstall the app, restart the phone, and then reinstall the app. If I get the errors once, it must be reinstalled and restarted. Just restarting the phone or just reinstalling the app won't work. In beta11, if I disable the "WiFi driver reload" setting and enable WiFi before starting tethering, it does not show any errors in the log. When I connect to the phone from a computer, however, I cannot access the Internet from the tethered connection.
