FAQ

AltDrag does not work in VirtualBox when using Linux as a host OS. Why?

AltDrag does not work since your window manager is intercepting the alt keypress so you can move the VirtualBox window. You can reassign the hotkey for AltDrag as a workaround. For more information, read  issue 23 .

I can't resize PuTTY!! FIX IT PLZ!

This was a problem in the past. Upgrade to PuTTY 0.61 if you are having problems. For more information, read issue 27.

I can't drag or resize window X. Why?

Some programs implement their own window handlers which may interfere with AltDrag (e.g. Winamp). The problem most likely lies with the program you are trying to drag. They did not expect that another program might want to move it and thus they didn't code for that scenario. If you encounter a program that is having troubles, I suggest that you send a bug report to its developers. If you still think the problem lies with AltDrag, please file a bug report.

I am having trouble dragging some windows. I have UAC enabled.

The keyboard hook that AltDrag uses to detect the Alt keypress does not forward keypresses if an elevated program has keyboard focus. Thus if AltDrag is not running with administrator privileges, then it won't detect Alt keypresses when an elevated program has keyboard focus. For AltDrag to pick up this, it too has to run with administrator privileges. See the about page for details on how to solve this.

I get errors about the hooks not working when I press the tray icon. I lock the screen/sleep my computer a lot.

In Windows 7, low-level hooks are more aggressively removed when they become unresponsive. All programs which use low-level hooks are affected by this new behavior, and it almost always happens when locking the screen or resuming the computer from sleep. AltDrag attempts to re-enable the hooks in some cases, but might not always succeed. You can apply a registry setting to make Windows less aggressive. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and create a new DWORD with the name LowLevelHooksTimeout and a value of 5000 or more. For more information, read issue 58.

This doesn't answer my question!

How do I turn off windows scrolling? I need it for other tools shortcuts but I'm not able to disable it unchecking "Scroll Inactive Scroll" or setting it to 0 in the ini. Thanks

Hello muramura. Unfortunately that is not possible in the beta. I will add an option to disable it in the next version.
