Portfolio project spanning one year's work (about 32 weeks worth).

The brief is to produce a game prototype fitted for a portfolio piece.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Written in C++
  • Use and incorporate 3D graphics using OGRE 3D.
  • Use of shaders as a graphics technology.
  • Demonstrate control of a character using either keyboard/mouse or any other appropriate controller.
  • Demonstrate appropriate camera control in order to frame gameplay.
  • Demonstrate elements of gameplay and game interactions.
  • Demonstrate appropriate applications of AI in order to further the gameplay.
  • Demonstrate Picking or Collision detection.
  • Demonstrate the use of at least one third-party middleware library.
  • Appropriate use of User Interface, appropriate to the game genre.
  • Demonstrate an appropriate use of software engineering practice.

Additional marks will be available for the following:

  • Appropriate use of advanced shadowing and lighting models.
  • Appropriate use of particles and other visual effects.
  • Demonstration of an advanced use of a particular middleware.
  • Appropriate use of an Advanced AI technique.
  • Networking functionality.
  • Use of multiprocessing.

Progress is reviewed to the tutors at certain dates. These outline the milestones on my project.
