All browsers

Make sure you are using the latest filters

  1. Open AdBlocks options by clicking the button -> Options
  2. Go to the second tab: "Filter lists"
  3. Click the 'Update Now' button
  4. Wait until all lists have been updated
  5. Restart the browser





Google Chrome

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Google Chrome installed

  1. Click on the Wrench -> About Google Chrome
  2. If available click on "Update now" or get the latest version from www.google.com/chrome
  3. Restart your browser when you are asked to do so


2. Make sure AdBlock for Chrome is installed, enabled and up to date

  1. Open a tab to about:extensions to view your installed extensions
  2. If AdBlock isn't listed, you'll need to install it.
  3. If AdBlock is listed but grayed out, click "Enable".
  4. If your version is older than the latest version according to this page, click on the right top on "Developer mode"
  5. Click on "Update extensions now" and wait for a few seconds for it to update the version number.
  6. If it doesn't update, you can uninstall and reinstall to force it.


3. Reboot your computer


4. Uninstall and reinstall AdBlock for Chrome

To uninstall from Chrome

  1. Open a tab to about:extensions
  2. Click the trash can to the right of AdBlbock's "Enable" checkbox
  3. Optional, but sometimes helpful: restart Chrome or reboot your computer now.

To install on Chrome

  1. Click the "Add to Chrome" button at www.chromeadblock.com


5. Delete the LocalStorage file of AdBlock for Chrome

Windows

  1. Quit Chrome
  2. Open Windows Explorer
  3. Go to: %localappdata%\google\chrome\user data\default\Local Storage
  4. Delete the "chrome-extension_gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom_0.localstorage" file
  5. Open Chrome again and see if AdBlock works

Mac OS X

  1. Quit Chrome
  2. Open Finder, click the Go menu, hold down the Option key, select Library which will appear at that point
  3. In the window that appears, go to: Application Support -> Google -> Chrome -> Default -> Local Storage
  4. Delete the "chrome-extension_gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom_0.localstorage" file
  5. Open Chrome again and see if AdBlock works

Linux

  1. Quit Chrome
  2. Open Places -> Home Folder
  3. Choose View -> Show Hidden Files
  4. Go to: .config -> google-chrome -> Default -> Local Storage
  5. Delete the "chrome-extension_gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom_0.localstorage" file
  6. Open Chrome again and see if AdBlock works





Safari

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Safari installed

  1. If you are using Windows click on Help -> About Safari or if you are using Mac OS X click on Safari -> About Safari
  2. You can get the latest version here: www.apple.com/safari/download/


2. Make sure AdBlock for Safari is installed, enabled and up to date

  1. Open the Safari preferences
  2. Go to Extensions. If AdBlock is not listed, install it.
  3. Make sure "Enable AdBlock" is checked.
  4. Go to the Updates tab.
  5. Wait a few seconds and install the update if there is one

Enable autoupdate for extensions

  1. Open the Safari preferences
  2. Go to: Extensions -> Updates
  3. Enable autoupdates by clicking on the "Install Updates Automatically" checkbox


3. Reboot your computer


4. Uninstall and reinstall AdBlock for Safari

To uninstall from Safari

  1. Click the Safari menu -> Preferences -> Extensions -> AdBlock
  2. Click "Uninstall"
  3. optional, but sometimes helpful: restart Safari or reboot your computer now.

To install on Safari

  1. Go to [extensions.apple.com the Apple Extensions Gallery]
  2. Scroll down a little bit to AdBlock
  3. Click "Install Now"


5. Delete the LocalStorage file of AdBlock for Safari

Windows

  1. Quit Safari
  2. Open Windows Explorer
  3. Go to: %localappdata%\Apple Computer\Safari\LocalStorage
  4. Delete the "safari-extension_com.betafish.adblockforsafari-(letters & numbers).localstorage" file(s)
  5. Open Safari again and see if AdBlock works

Mac OS X

  1. Quit Safari
  2. Open Finder, click the Go menu, hold down the Option key, select Library which will appear at that point
  3. In the window that appears, go to: Safari -> LocalStorage
  4. Delete the "safari-extension_com.betafish.adblockforsafari-(letters & numbers).localstorage" file(s)
  5. Open Safari again and see if AdBlock works





Opera

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Opera installed

  1. Click on the Opera menu -> Help -> Check for Updates
  2. When an update is available, follow the steps to update the browser

2. Make sure AdBlock for Opera is installed, enabled and up to date

  1. Make sure the following setting is set to the default value or less: opera:config#AutoUpdate|Add-onsCheckInterval
  2. Open the Extensions tab by clicking the Opera menu -> Extensions -> Manage Extensions
    • If AdBlock isn't listed, you'll need to install it first
    • If AdBlock is listed but grayed out, click "Enable"
    • If your version is older than the latest version according to this page, you'll have to wait until Opera automatically installs the new version
    • If it doesn't update, you can uninstall and reinstall the extension to force it.

3. Restart your browser

4. Reboot your computer

5. Uninstall and reinstall AdBlock for Opera

To uninstall from Opera

  1. Open the Extensions tab by clicking the Opera menu -> Extensions -> Manage Extensions
  2. Click the uninstall button near AdBlock
  3. Restart the browser

To install on Opera

  1. Go to this page
  2. Click "Add to Opera"
  3. (optionally, you can change the settings under privacy now)
  4. Click "Install"
  5. Restart Opera

6. Clear AdBlock for Opera's settings

  1. Open AdBlocks options by clicking the button -> Options
  2. Right mouse click the page and choose Inspect element
  3. Click Storage in the new screen that opens (on top of it)
  4. Click the "Widget preferences" tab
  5. Right mouse click one of the items you'll see in the list
  6. Choose "Delete all from widget://wuid-..."
  7. Restart Opera
