Reported by t.mun...@gmail.com, Oct 13, 2010
I have autoupdate enabled therefore I don't know if it's a 2.2.1 bug
but:
1. no more contextual menu,
2.no more adblocking
3. pressing adblock button all I get is a white page with
"()
Please consider donating via the toolbar button :)
"

I cleaned extension and preference file but still the same.

AdBlock version:2.2.1
Which browser do you use?
Browser version:safari mac
Operating system:5.0.2

What filter lists are you subscribed to? (If you don't know what a filter
list is, you're subscribed to "EasyList" and "AdBlock custom".)

Anything else you can tell me to help me figure this out?

I think this is a Safari bug.
However, I've seen the options page like that some times before too in Chrome. Then it always showed the error 'SAFARI is not defined'.
Michael, any ideas?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling adblock? If you cleaned your extension files I can't imagine that would help, but it's helped another user with a similar report.

Also try clearing the browser cache and cookies for all time and restarting the browser.

Sorry for the trouble...

done everything, even updated to 2.2.7, still no adblocking but now options page looks like this

° ()

even before the update...
nice, isn't it?
I do believe there is some sort of voodoo going on

Busted. All I needed was a human hair and my voodoo doll would be ready. Now I'll go for black magic.

But to be serious:
Could yo please
-Close the options page
-Go to the safari preferences, tab advanced
-Enable the "Show developer menu" option
-Go to the AdBlock options
-Press alt + cmd + c or ctrl-shift-J to open the console. (If this doesn't work you can also right-click on the page and select the last option in the context menu). Then switch to the tab 'console'
-Paste the output here?

BTW, cmd+alt+c works in other pages but not this one...

Thanks!
As I guessed in comment 1... (although I made a mistake there: it indeed is 'safari' and not 'SAFARI')
Michael, any idea? Happens on both Chrome and Safari as you can see...

Something's seriously wrong with your browser. 'safari' is an object that the browser provides to all extensions, so if it's not there, your browser has gotten confused.

You don't by any chance have Javascript turned off, do you? Maybe there's a bug related to that?

If you have uninstalled AdBlock, cleared your cache and cookies, restarted Safari, reinstalled AdBlock, and still have the problem, then please let us know, and file a bug at bugreport.apple.com.

BINGO!!!
as you cunningly pointed out there was a javascript problem!
javascript was, apparently, enabled (checkmark on it) but it was really disabled,
i unchecked and checked it again and adblock just worked again!
I don't really know how javascript got disabled, but thank to everyone for your help!

PS:This is not the first time strange things are happening on my macs.
Lately OSX is, suspiciously, behaving like a MS product...

I'm having the exact same problem - not only with adblock but with firebug lite. I tried the solution that worked for t.munari but it didn't work for me :(. Oddly enough, another extension, redditminimal, works fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Assuming you are using Safari:
Could you please file a report at bugreport.apple.com about this? safari should work 100% of the time...

If you are using Chrome, please file a new report here...
