Adapt It

	Adapt It is an application that translates or adapts source text documents into target or translated text. This process depends on the knowledge of the human translator in understanding both languages. Adapt It maintains a Knowledge Base which stores word and phrase adaptations that can be automatically inserted into the target text, thus speeding the translation process. Adapt It uses plain text (txt) files for input and expects the use of Unified Standard Format Markers (USFM) in the input file. The translated text can be exported as a USFM text file or a Rich Text format file.

Linux Downloads are available as Debian packages from the following package repository:

Note: In Ubuntu you can access a Third Party Software repository, such as Adapt It, by selecting the "System" > "Administration" > "Software Sources" menu items, clicking on the "Third Party (or "Other") Software" tab, clicking on the "Add..." button, and entering one of the following lines as the "Apt Line:" depending on whether you are running Ubuntu Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty, or Karmic:

deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu lucid main
deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu maverick main
deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu natty main
deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu oneiric main

You can then reload the package manager lists, search for the "adaptit" packages, mark them for installation, and apply your installation choices. Once installed Adapt It appears in Ubuntu as a menu item in the "Applications" > "Office" menu.
