This project aims at making the Web accessible using a modular approach. The roots lie in my project titled "Easy Accessibility Look and Feel" (available under GNU Lesser General Public License at http://ealf.googlecode.com). EALF allows a Java developer to make his application accessible in 5 quick steps. Depending on how many features the developer wishes to incorporate, it could take him as little as 5 minutes to elevate the status of his application to "Accessible".

Accessibility for the Web aims at providing a toolkit to assist a Web developer make his website accessible in 5 quick steps!

Roadmap:

v0.1

This version demonstrates enabling magnification on a website using JavaScript. The demo pages includes a configuration panel that can be used to modify parameters such as magnification factor, magnification time out etc. This version is more of a PoC. I demonstrated the PoC at the Yahoo! HackU competiton held at Georgia Tech.

v0.2 (Current Version)

This version will seperate the JavaScript and CSS code segments and make them modular so that anyone can make use of them.

v0.3 (Under Development)

This version will introduce a HTML parser that will automate the process of making a webpage accessible.

v0.4(Plan incomplete)

This version will interface a text to speech engine to a website. The idea follows from the EALF project where in a "Text to Speech" interface has been implemented to provide feedback to the user through audio channel. Whenever the user switches focus to a control (either through mouse over or through "tab" key), a description of that control will be played back to the user.

Tested and found working on the following browsers
