Add Notifications while Scrobbling

Posted on Feb 22, 2010 by Helpful Elephant

I used to use the stock Android player and the Last.fm client to scrobble. As of late, I switched to MixZing and SLM. However, I miss the "Now Scrobbling" notifications I used to get. Could that be added in a future update?

Could you describe this "Now Scrobbling" notification in more detail? I've never (and can't) used the official client myself, so I don't know how it works.

Specifically, is this a notification similar to the "Now playing" notifications you get from the default player?

Also, what information whould be in the now scrobbling notification? And when should it appear/disappear?

Adding this is probably very feasible, and I'll look into it, but I'd appreciate it if you could answer my questions above.

Thanks for the feedback!

Essentially, when it started to scrobble the song (like when you start to play the song), a notification icon would pop up with the notification message "Now scrobbling (song title) by (artist)". The notification icon would disappear when the song finished, or was stopped or skipped for whatever reason. However, the official client doesn't make "Now Playing" notifications optional. You could possibly set it up to only show the message if the Now playing notifications are on, or show the message when the songs are being scrobbled.

The first screenshot shows the Last.fm notification along with the music app notification.

The second screenshot is showing that the Last.fm app actually enables scrobbling through other scrobbling apps, such as ScrobbleDroid or Simple Last.fm.

If you let the official Last.fm scrobbler scrobble from SLS, you get the double scrobbling on your Last.fm profile.

Hi, we've moved the website of SLS to https://github.com/tgwizard/sls. Could you please reopen this issue there, and wel'll get right on it.
