Speakers at Google Developer Day

Learn first hand from leaders in the field of web application development. We are currently finalising the roster of speakers, so please check back soon to see who will be presenting.

Jean-Laurent Wotton

Jean-Laurent is a Customer Solutions Engineer and has been working in the Google London office for the past two years.

Nimrod Talmon

Nimrod is a software engineer and has worked at Google for about a year. Prior to Google, he received B.A. in Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University and graduated with excellence.

Ryan Boyd

Ryan is on the Google Data APIs team, focusing on helping developers interface with Google APIs. He's been most active in supporting the Google Calendar, Picasa Web Albums, and YouTube APIs. Ryan also maintains the open source PHP client library which is distributed as the Zend_Gdata component of the Zend Framework. Previously he worked at his alma mater, Rochester Institute of Technology, developing web applications and architecting web hosting environments.

Sumit Chandel

Sumit is a Developer Programs Engineer working on the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) project. You'll find him posting on the GWT forums, reaching out to developers at conferences, or perhaps grabbing a snack at the Google cafe. When he's not thinking about GWT, he likes to play Tekken competitively and tour the globe.

Russell Middleton

Russell is a Customer Solutions Engineer, based in the Google London office. He is responsible for driving adoption and supporting Google's Consumer Products, with a special focus on Google Maps and Google Earth.

Jens Trapp

Jens joined Google in Hamburg in July 2007. As a Customer Solution Engineer, he helps clients integrate products and technologies such as Google AdWords, Google Maps or Google Base by using APIs. Jens studied mathematics with special interest in computer graphics. He obtained a PhD from the University of Göttingen in coorporation with the German Aerospace Institute. Prior to Google, Jens worked for Sun Microsystems as a Software Architect on Java and XML projects and technologies.

Patrick Chanezon

Patrick has been a Developer Advocate at Google since 2005. He has built and grown developer ecosystems for OpenSocial, Checkout and AdWords. Previously he has worked on portals, blogs and syndication feeds at Sun Microsystems, AOL and Netscape. He's the co-founder of the ROME - Atom and RSS utilities in java open source project and the OSSGTP (Open Source Get Together Paris) group.

Thomas Steiner

Thomas is a Customer Solutions Engineer with Google. His main interests these days are JavaScript, Ajax, (Google) APIs, and the social Web. In the past he has led several open source projects, like REST Describe & Compile (code generation for REST-based APIs) and APIlity (PHP client library for the AdWords API). Thomas' blog is located at blog.tomayac.de.

Charles Wiles

Charles is a Google Product Manager leading the mobile web effort in London and a key proponent of "the browser is theplatform" on mobile. Charles has a PhD from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School and was a founder of two successful start-ups before joining Google.

Dion Almaer

Dion works in the Google Developer Programs group, which enables him to spend his life dabbling in developer facing technology. He works with teams such as Gears to make the Web a better place, and development on it more productive. He is also the co-founder of AJAXian.com, the leading source of the AJAX community. He enjoys writing, and speaking at events around the world, and was co-author of Pragmatic AJAX.

Maxime Tiran

Maxime is a Google Customer Solutions Engineer. He has extensive experience working with search engines and web2.0 applications. Prior to Google, he spent 6 years working in the Silicon Valley.

Aaron Boodman

Aaron is a tech lead on Gears and has been an active member of the web development community for many years. At Google, he has worked on web applications such as Blogger and Gmail. On the side, he wrangles the Greasemonkey project.

Nicola Ferioli

Nicola is a Customer Solutions Engineer and has been working at Google for the past two years.

Mike Jennings

Mike Jennings is a Developer Advocate for Google. Canadian by birth and British by nationality he is often mistaken for an American (which is okay with him). Mike started programming in 1980 and hasn't stopped yet.

Chewy Trewhella

Chewy is a Developer Advocate at Google. His job is to make technical things accessible and relevant to technical and non-technical people. He is particularly knowledgeable about Google's APIs and webmaster programmes. He has a BEng in Software Engineering, and he's been with Google since November 2005. When he's not at work, he likes to play the banjo, and sleep.

Mano Marks

Mano Marks is a Developer Advocate at Google, providing developers help with the Google App Engine and Google Geo APIs. Before Google, he worked in the non-profit, human services sector for a decade doing database development. He has a Masters in History and in Information Management and Systems. He regards himself as a recovering historian.

Tom Stocky

Tom is the director of product management for Google's developer products. He was part of the teams that launched Google App Engine and the Google AJAX Search API, and has played an important role in the development and release of various APIs and developer tools. Prior to Google, Tom was a researcher at the MIT Media Lab, which included work on computational linguistics and user interfaces for mobile phones. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan, as well as a BS and MEng in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.

Kevin Millikin

Kevin Millikin is a Software Engineer in Google's Aarhus, Denmark office. He works on the team that developed the V8 JavaScript virtual machine, with a primary focus on memory management and compilation. Kevin holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Aarhus.

Chris Chabot

Chris is a Developer Advocate at Google. His main interests these days are OpenSocial, Open Source, innovative web 2.0 technologies and trying to do the impossible.

Before his involvement in the OpenSocial world, he worked with his passion, connecting computers and people, ranging from intelligent planning software for international transport companies in the early 90's to more recently, some of the leading Web 2.0 sites in the Netherlands.
