*二虎棋*老虎棋类流传甚广，棋类繁多，具有以下一些共同特点：在棋盘方面，多数棋种的棋盘主体部分由4个米字格组成。
在棋子方面，对局双方棋子数目不等。棋子少的一方统称虎方，一般只有棋子1~3枚；棋子多的一方统称犬方，一般有棋子10枚以上，多的可超过30枚。在棋规方面，虎方可以吃子，吃够一定数量的犬方棋子就获胜；犬方便可以赤字，以围困虎方位目的，当虎方全部棋子无法走动时才算犬方获胜。
下面介绍二虎棋。
它的棋盘为典型的4米格棋盘，没有附加部分，有5条纵线、5条横线和长短方向都不同的6条斜线组成，全盘共有25个交点式棋位。
