Google Plugin for Eclipse

Google Plugin for Eclipse 3.3 (Europa) Installation Instructions

  1. Start Eclipse, then select Help > Software Updates > Find and Install... In the dialog that appears, select Search for new features to install and click Next.

  2. Click New Remote Site.

  3. Enter a name for the update site (for example, Google Update Site for Eclipse 3.3) and the following value for the URL: http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.3. Click OK.

  4. The newly-added site is checked to indicate that it will be searched for features to install. Also select the checkbox for Europa Discovery Site, which provides features that the Google Plugin for Eclipse depends on. Click Finish.

  5. In the subsequent Search Results dialog, select the checkbox for the update site (for example, Google Update Site for Eclipse 3.3). This will install the plugin, a Google App Engine Java SDK and a Google Web Toolkit SDK. Also, expand the Europa Discovery Site, expand the Web and JEE Development component, and select the checkbox for Web Standard Tools. Click Next.

    Note: Installing the SDKs is optional; you can always install them later on.

  6. Read the license agreements and then select I accept the terms in the license agreements. Click Next.

  7. Click Finish.

  8. The plugin is not signed so you must acknowledge that you are installing an unsigned feature. Click Install All.

    Caution: Only install the plugin if you downloaded it from dl.google.com.

  9. You will then be asked be asked if you would like to restart Eclipse. Click Yes.

  10. Now you are ready to build Google Web Toolkit and App Engine applications! If you encountered issues during the installation, please see the FAQ.
