Getting Started
1) New to iGoogle? Check out the Anatomy of an iGoogle Gadget and read about iGoogle Users.
2) Sign-up for the sandbox
Remember that the sandbox is provided for development purposes only. Several features in the sandbox are under development. Some key points:
- Users start with an empty friends list. You'll need to manually add friends in the sandbox. Friends need to be in the sandbox to accept friend requests.
- Gadgets can access all activities in the Updates gadget for debugging purposes, but will later only be able to access their own activities.
- requestSendMessage (notifications) is not yet enabled in the sandbox.
- Only very limited profile information is available.
- The install page for social gadgets is still under development.
3) Add developer tools to your account
Includes the following gadgets:
- Developer gadget: add gadgets and turn off caching.
- Updates gadget: post and view updates.
- Friends Manager gadget: add test friends in the sandbox.
- Profile gadget: view and edit your limited sandbox profile.
4) Add your gadget
To add a gadget in development to the sandbox, enter the URL into the developer gadget and click add.
