What type of merchant are you?


There are currently three methods of integration for Political Organizations:

  • Contribute buttons - a copy and paste solution to accept online contributions
  • Pre-integrated cart - shopping carts which are pre-integrated with Google Checkout. You'll need to check with the shopping cart provider for Google Checkout political organization API support.
  • Custom Cart - integrate Google Checkout with your custom cart using our XML API for political organizations

Google Checkout provides two APIs to integrate with a custom cart:

  • The HTML API uses HTML Form name value pairs and is simpler to program but less secure. Merchants overcome these security issues by double-checking the purchased items before shipping and charging to ensure they have not been tampered with. How to
  • The XML API allows the merchant to leverage the client libraries. Integrating with the XML API involves more programming but is more secure. It is recommended for merchants who want to take advantage of advanced Google Checkout features such as shipping restrictions, merchant calculations, and tax tables. For security reasons, Google Sites does not currently allow certain HTML and Javascript to be inserted. Because of this, most integration options are not available for Sites users. However, one integration method available for use is the Google Store Gadget. For information about implementing the store gadget please review the documentation here.
