What are the Google Book Search APIs?

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. To help make the information we've organized in Google Book Search more useful, we provide several different ways to learn about Google's books and link to them.

Dynamic links

By adding some simple Javascript to your site, you can include more customizable, reliable links to Book Search content. Dynamic links lets you:

  • Generate "smart" links that appear only when a book is in our index
  • Indicate to your users whether the book can be previewed on Google Book Search
  • Query by ISBN, LCCN, OCLC number, or other standard identifier
  • Include a thumbnail image in your link to Google Book Search

Static links

Google Book Search provides a standard linking format that allows developers to link to books using ISBNs, LCCNs, and OCLC numbers.
