The AdSense API is ideal for developers whose users create their own web content such as: web hosting, web publishing, blogging, and social networking applications. One of the first beta developers of the AdSense API was Blogger, the largest free blogging platform in use, which is owned by Google.

The Blogger team added a sub-tab for AdSense in the template setup during initial blog creation. Here bloggers could learn about AdSense, sign in if they have an account, or create a new one. As outlined in the AdSense API developer guide, the form collected all of the necessary information to create a new AdSense account through the API implementation.

Once new bloggers create an AdSense account or are signed in to an existing AdSense account, they see the following screen. The Blogger team decided on 6 ad unit formats and 9 color template options, including two they created themselves.

For bloggers who didn't sign up initially for AdSense, Blogger promotes it on the Dashboard. Based on the thousands of bloggers who have put AdSense on their blogs through the API implementation, Blogger has seen significant success with the API.
